This hanging lace dragon ornament is the latest in my ‘Unexpected Lace’ series. I’m not known as the Mother of Dragons for nothing – as a gothy teenager (see this post for photographic proof) I loved dragons and collected all kinds of dragon ornaments and pictures. At university a friend from Hong Kong gave me a set of hand cut paper dragons, and another a child’s book called ‘Ja(y)ne and the Dragon’. So my affection for the burny blighters is very long standing!
I leave watching Game of Thrones to my better half, as I can’t take cruelty to any beast, especially the winged kind. But I’m as dedicated to my lace dragons as Daenerys Targaryen is to her family. I really enjoyed designing this after being asked for a dragon ornament. I love the ideas people come up with. Not quite sure how to create the International Space Station in lace yet, but give me time! Other ‘Unexpected Lace’ ornaments include a lace skull and a lace bat.
This lace dragon ornament is aproximately 80mm long, made from rayon thread. It’s wired along an edge to provide a little stability in the design. As such it’s not a toy and shouldn’t be given to baby dragons to play with (or kids for that matter).
At present the lace dragon ornament is only available from stock in white. If you want your dragon in realistic hues of purple or blue, or you want it to glow in the dark (yes really) then let me know! I can make one especially for you, just contact me with your request. Postage in the UK is FREE!
