This unique lace ornament ‘Love’ greetings card is the result of another collaboration with photographer Ash Brown. Leicester-based Ash is the talented tog behind most of my photo shoots. His obsession is light, capturing it and using it in creative ways. For this image he arranged some lights into a heart shape, then used a heart-shaped lens tool to make the bokeh hearts effect. It was my idea to add a detachable lace love heart, for the perfect memento of a wedding or anniversary.
Bokeh: the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image [Wikipedia].
The lace heart ornament is about 40mm in size and made from silky rayon thread in my Nottinghamshire studio. The design is a traditional Nottingham Lace design, derived from an old factory drawing for a lace handkerchief corner. I took just the corner element and created a unique lace heart. It’s tied to the card with a silk ribbon, so untie it to hang in a window or as part of a romantic display.
The card is A6 in size, comes with a plain white envelope and is blank inside for your own romantic message. The card features the word “Love” on the front in red letters. Postage within the UK is FREE!
